Helen has been known to me since August 2010, when she joined S2F as HR Manager. At the time, S2F was a privately owned, multidisciplinary consultancy business focussed on the controlled environment sectors of research, pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare. S2F employed approx. 250 people including architects, engineers, CAD and support staff with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Shanghai. In my capacity as S2F Director NSW, I had the great pleasure of working with Helen on a number of HR related matters including recruitment, redundancies, training & employee management. I found Helen to be pro-active, a clear thinker, always willing to help and despite the high stress levels of the role, always retained her sense of humour. She was actively involved in rolling out a structured Performance Accountability program across the company and managed to save $500K in HR expenditure after her first year in the role. At the time Helen joined, the S2F directors were in early stages of merger/take-over talks with Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM). After agreement to join the companies, Helen took on the role of S2F’s HR integration lead and successfully ran a structured process to ensure maximum employee retention. She worked closely with our China Manager, Patrick Chui, in helping prepare the Shanghai office for the merger, including the roll out of a change management program with specific focus on accountability and talent management. This was a very difficult and busy time for all involved but I could not commend Helen highly enough for her excellent performance during that challenging time. Following 18 months in SKM’s HR department, Helen has decided to pursue her own goals. I am confident she will do well in whatever path she takes and I wish her all the best for the future.
